Ice melt enters your building in two ways: as crystals (solid) and as brine (liquid). If you don’t remove all traces of it, it will damage—or destroy—your carpet or floor.
Ice melt harms surfaces in different ways. Brine produces an unsightly white residue on a hard surface, and it erodes its finish. If untreated, it damages the surface itself. Brine makes carpet sticky and gives it a weathered look. Ice melt crystals get pushed to the base of the carpet. If not removed (vacuuming won’t remove them) they will destroy the carpet.
Ice melt is inexpensive—less than $20 per bag—but it will damage your surface or destroy your carpet. Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming won’t remove it all. You need a professional with the equipment and the know-how to remove all traces of ice melt in your building. To schedule a cleaning, or if you have questions, call us today at 913-322-6200.
